His plan is to raise his mind to a computer.
The process begins with a "comprehensive mapping" of the brain,
reducing brain activity to mere calculations and digits, after which
such calculations codes are translated and can be installed on other
computer media future of artificial intelligence.
This may seem like another crazy nonsense, but basically, the work of
many neuroscientists around the world, trying to decode all brain
activity, agrees precisely with these objectives.
Depth mapping brain function, is indispensable for converting data
brain activity in previous step and seems to lack money to invest in
such investigations.
Rothblatt, Kurzweil and Koene are not the only ones working hard on the construction of this own future in a dystopian fantasy; there are hundreds of people working in the forefront of technological and scientific world that go in the same direction.
Another example is the CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, who is convinced
that the Internet as we know it will disappear, as stated at the recent
summit in Davos.
"There
will be many IP addresses ... many devices, sensors, connected elements
you take over, so many things that you will be interacting, which form
part of their perception all the time"
Basically, when speaking of Schmidt replace sensors and externally
accessible Internet platform refers to implantable brain chips.
The integration of Internet in the brain, is something that we already
talked at the time the former director of engineering at Google, Scott
Huffman, who in a fit of enthusiasm in 2013, predicted that "in
five years users Internet have connected to their roofs and integrated
in the brain in order to make faster Internet searches "microchips
microphones.
At this point it would be ridiculous to think that the concept of
digital immortality, advances in the field of neuroscience and Internet
integration in the brain have nothing to do with each other.
Browsing the Internet for brain pathway would be able to transmit
digital information directly to the brain and from the brain and that
would represent essential for achieving the ability to copy and record
memories, sensations or feelings previous step, which would in turn The
first step to getting the cloning of whole mind to the full.
And to make all this possible, it is absolutely necessary that the
field of neuroscience forward to getting set up a complete map of the
human mind, which may now seem an impossible pipe dream ... as we seemed
to map the entire human genome, something that much has already been
achieved.
So, what at first might seem madness "four geeks mad" is actually a
much more solid project, medium and long term, which is advancing step
by step, inexorably.
In it are not involved fans a sect, but those who are at the forefront of technological development and human scientist; people like that direct corporate giant that captures more control over the Internet right now: Google; people who are charting, day after day, the limits of the network of the future; a network by what we see, it is aimed to become a new "global mind".
Why it will be online soon: a global mind linking not only all
computers, mobile devices, tablets and mobile phones, but all
electronics on the planet, from cars and planes to refrigerators,
televisions, medical devices, that which has become known as the
"Internet of things".
If they add the brains connected to the Internet, as these
"visionaries" are projecting, which is made possible by progress in
parallel in the fields of artificial intelligence and neuroscience, we
are witnessing the birth of a new entity planetary global psyche as a
macro-organism with own internal logic and laws that will form an entire
ecosystem of algorithms and incessant exchange of information and in
our own minds be integrated.
Is it an unattainable dream? A hallucination of science fiction as some would have us believe?
Maybe, but it really does not matter what we create;
because the only true and tangible is that these people that shape
tomorrow do believe possible and are working hard on it and the
culmination of all your work and research, leading not only to the
Technological Singularity, that assumption at which beings humans and
machines we will melt creating a super intelligence, but on the concept
of Digital Immortality, as logical culmination of the process.
Forget it, for a moment, discussions about whether it is possible or
not reach the Singularity, whether such technology can be developed or
not, or how much time is left for that to happen and focus on people who
are trying to achieve that new evolutionary state of man.
The existence of these people, their attitude, their dreams, their
hopes and their efforts lead us to draw several immediate conclusions:
-The First conclusion
is that many of these elitist and above all the great magnates of the
world of technology, computers and artificial intelligence, characters
must feel a terrible fear of death, even higher than that of other
mortals.
It seems inconceivable to them that their "great minds" and its "unique
ego" may disappear like the rest of human beings ("forever lost ... in
time ... like tears in rain")
In fact, it is clear that they would consider losing their minds as an
irreparable loss to the future of the world and although they speak of
"ending with death" or "live forever" as if made reference to all
mankind as a whole, is Obviously just think of themselves as prominent
and senior members of the human species.
Does anyone believe that when they speak of achieving immortality, as immortal imagine a farmer in Bangladesh?
Let no one be fooled because, by their seemingly altruistic and selfless speech.
Will digital immortality for the poor?
-The Second conclusion we
can reach is that these people see the mind of human beings as mere
data set, classify, recordable and storable, like the code of a computer
program or data stored in a single hard drive, in this case, a hard
disk formed by neurons.
Apparently, they are convinced that if someone copies the data from
your mind on other media, automatically his "conscience" also move to
that support. (And if you do not believe, it seems they do not care too much not).
If we follow the internal logic of his reasoning, this begs the
question: if someone cloned exactly your mind while they are still alive
and installed in a cybernetic head, then would they then have two
simultaneous consciences installed in two different bodies?
And if they decide to clone and copy your mind in 1000 robots, then what will happen? ¿They will have a hive mind with a supra-consciousness that controls all at once?
Is that what you really believe and what you dream about getting?
The truth is that if these people were poor and used these same
arguments, society would consider madmen and be mocked and mocked by
their peers. However, as they are rich and powerful people consider a "visionary" and a "dreamy" ...
-The Third conclusion
we can reach is that if these people really see human beings as complex
data packages installed on biological machines, then it is highly
unlikely to feel empathy, love or a deep respect for other beings human.
We will not discuss whether there are immortal spirit or soul or whether we are just pure and simple matter. Everyone can take the desired position and the underlying problem will remain intact.
The problem is that these people conceive the human mind as a mere
computer program and therefore do not feel in awe of the individual
identity of humans or by his conscience as individuals.
For them, the rest are just human bodies endowed with a packed brain
copiable and reproducible data and therefore feel so much love and
respect for us as they can feel by any other computer or machine with
which to work. Little more than love to feel for an appliance with legs.
If you only see us as packages errant data, logically there will come a
time when perhaps they can try to throw us "to the recycle bin" if our
presence is annoying or occupy too much space "at the planetarium hard
drive".
For them, therefore we are all meat from the "delete" key.
As we see, it has nothing to do with technological and scientific
progress, but with the mentality of those who are leading these projects
that lay the foundation for tomorrow's world.
His conception of technological future, it's really not relevant. What is really bad is how to conceive and feel human nature, something we can deduct from their own words and thoughts.
Inherent in its conception of the human being, are the concepts of elitism, of superior and inferior beings, eugenics, oppression, mind control and elimination of individual conscience, convert the latter to a set of copyable data, reproducible and erasable .
Themselves are probably not aware of this, but these people now design
the future of humanity from their computers, are laying the groundwork
for a future nightmare.
Footwear in their sports and wearing their shirts and jeans, with
tousled hair and youthful attitude, seem a dynamic guys and dreamers who
use their privileged creative minds as if it were a game.
But deep down, using his talent, extremely negative underlying concepts
that are waiting for the right moment to physically materialize and
that no one is paying attention.
As we can see, the issue is not as anecdotal as many people may believe.
This is not a playful fantasy Chavalillos immersed in fantasy comic book or sci-fi movies.
Draw the future of humanity before our eyes and we are ignoring negligibly.
We swallow the news that someone wants to raise his mind to a computer
or a billionaire trying to copy his own psyche to be immortal as if they
were a joke, replaced in 10 seconds by the pointless video of a playful
kitten or type which shoots a ball with the same nonchalance with which
we eat some chips bloated before the TV.
But what we are witnessing is neither a game nor a story.
It involves deep philosophical reflections, which extend to the
practical field of economics, politics, social organization and the
future of humans to biological and psychological level.
They are laying the foundations of a new world.
And that should lead us to ask the question: in the hands of what kind of people are leaving the future of the human species?
Or said no so many openly: Who makes future nightmares?
